Manali's Quilt.

Some years back  in 2009, 6 of my students danced in Bharathathil Bharathi,a program featuring Subramanya Bharathi,a great Tamil poet.As a way of saying thank you to my students who had put in a lot of hard work,I made quilts for them. This one went to Manali,it adorns her bed and she says "I love it"!
Will try and post the other 5 too.

It has taken me more than a year to finish this simple quilt top.....many other QT's  were done ,2 of Reethi's as pattern tester etc!In fact my brother  Sundar made a comment about finishing UFO's!!Want to send it for quilting.....the size now is 74"/86". Will add black binding once it gets back or ask Reethi to do it for me!!Its all from scraps.....but not making a dent to my stash(sigh)

Moroccon Morning

Another quilt top designed by Reethi! She has been inspired by a tile pattern...the size is 86" by 66". I always prefer queen to full or double, but while cutting ,cut only for double ,then when I wanted to enlarge it to queen....ran out of patience and also out of the blue fabric! It is quite an easy pattern.....couple of suggestions were made.....one felt a blue border would have been better, another was using 2 shades of blue instead of the yellow.
We are planning to send it for quilting and then will bind it with blue....will post picture once it comes back!
This pattern will soon be available on Craftsy.

Moroccan Morning - now available for sale!

Kolam (Traditional Indian Design)

At long last I have another Quilt Top!This one is very close to my heart....some time back Reethi was asking for a book on Kolams from Madras....this came from Madras with Meera and Dorai. She was talking about writing a pattern using a kolam motif as the basis. On our return from Madras this time, had gone over to her house for dinner and after dinner she was showing me a printed set of sheets of paper with instructions to do a quilt top, telling me that this was going to be my next project!Very often she puts out something and compels me to finish it quickly. So,I thought this was one of those patterns.......till when it came to almost the end I realized that it was Reethi's pattern for a quilt top inspired by a Kolam!!The instructions were very precise and simple to follow(for me ,that's very important).Reethi sent this pattern to be tested by Chandra,Priya and me.Of course Chandra was the first one to finish in 4 days flat!!She has used pink and white whereas I have used black and white.
