A quilt top for Harveen and Krishna

This is from Reethi's book again! Very kindly she let me use some lovely tie and dye fabric from Nigeria! And this was the result .....in fact she put it on the quilting machine and "I" finished the quilting too....though just squiggles! Reethi very kindly did the binding.....can't believe I finished the qt in just 3 weeks and managed to quilt it too. Just shows if there is a huge deadline am game for it.....very pleased with myself. It was very well received by Harveen and Krishna too.....well worth the effort. Will put another pic with the quilting and binding too.

Running to catchup!

OMG! How many things to catch up.....it's a learning curve to blog and I forget the how to's easily.....today's resolution .....at least one picture to be loaded up....let's see what happens at the end of the day

Almost a years work to catch up on the blog

It's been more than a year since I posted anything...sheer procrastination ...that's it. Now it feels like I have to climb a huge mountain to catch up on all that i did.....but will try shortly . Reethi and I jointly bought a juki quilting machine to quilt our own quilts and later on to try doing it for others   .  Well....the machine was bought and  set up by Reethi last November and I finally picked up courage to learn only this February ! Now....isn't that a shame? But am happy that I did  it  finally. Reethi was my very patient teacher.....can you believe that?! Anyways.....to end a long story short,I intact enjoy quilting on the machine! At the same time I bought a juki sewing machine for myself.....just a straight stitch one.....and my word does it stitch well! For the last 10 years have been following crazymom quilts ,where Amanda Jean has been praising this juki. Now with this machine stitching is no longer a hair tearing experience! Soon I will upload the pictures of quilts made during this time.....

This is another of Reethi's rangoli pattern.I will unfold it once she has quilted it and put it on her blog....this again I was pattern testing for Reethi.Not a difficult one at all,very colourful and easy even for beginners.The pattern for this will be on sale at http://globalnomadquilts.blogspot.ca/.

Manali's Quilt.

Some years back  in 2009, 6 of my students danced in Bharathathil Bharathi,a program featuring Subramanya Bharathi,a great Tamil poet.As a way of saying thank you to my students who had put in a lot of hard work,I made quilts for them.This one went to Manali,it adorns her bed and she says "I love it"!

Reethi's 2nd Rangoli pattern

These are 2 blocks for Reethi's new Kolam block,have some work cut out for this coming week.Looking forward!Wish Chandra were also doing along......operation came at the wrong moment...She will be joining after the end of this month and when she gets a clean chit from her DR.

Finally finished!

It has taken me more than a year to finish this simple quilt top.....many other QT's  were done ,2 of Reethi's as pattern tester etc!In fact my brother  Sundar made a comment about finishing UFO's!!Want to send it for quilting.....the size now is 74"/86". Will add black binding once it gets back or ask Reethi to do it for me!!Its all from scraps.....but not making a dent to my stash(sigh)
